Dr. Tatyana El-Kour, Senior Research Fellow
Dr. Tatyana El-Kour is a Senior Research Fellow at the Media Psychology Research Center. With 25 years of expertise at the intersection of psychology and nutrition, her work focuses on leveraging emerging media and technologies to transform health behaviors and nutrition practices globally. Dr. El-Kour led a global randomized controlled trial comparing digital behavior responses in augmented versus non-augmented reality contexts, providing key insights into how these technologies shape health decisions across generations. Her research explores the role of misinformation and cultural dynamics in implementing evidence-based nutrition interventions.
A recognized leader in her field, Dr. El-Kour’s work integrates artificial intelligence, mobile health apps, and cross-cultural factors to advance sustainable health and nutrition strategies. Her contributions continue to influence global health and media policies and practices, driving innovations in media practice, digital health, nutrition interventions, and population health workforce development.
Dr. El-Kour holds a PhD in Psychology with dual concentrations in Media Psychology and the Social Impact of Mobile Media & Immersive Technology from Fielding Graduate University. She has received numerous prestigious honors, including the 2017 Worldwide Network for Gender Empowerment Research Fellowship and the 2018 Michael R. Neal Legacy Award. A registered dietitian nutritionist and a fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Dr. El-Kour has published over 100 journal articles, abstracts, and books, and has written more than 550 articles in newspapers as a columnist.
