Dear Seema,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. As a PhD in media psychology, you are a pioneer, breaking new ground. You are right that there is little awareness of media psychology as a field. Since media psychology is a new field, there aren't obvious jobs. It is more a question of finding a job where the skills add value. For example, your skills might be excellent for translating therapeutic treatments to media if you have a background in clinical psychology. But it's really a question of applying the psychology of human behavior and neuroscience with the experience of media and technology. It is useful in a multitude of fields from business and commercial communication and marketing applications to social services such as education and healthcare in developing media, managing messaging, developing products and technologies, designing educational interfaces and technologies, and developing materials that promote health and wellness, from therapy to teaching or supporting new behaviors. There is also tremendous value in the nonprofit sector. Very exciting work is being done in India using mobile and traditional technologies to increase literacy, improve economic access, and educate people about social and healthcare issues, such as domestic violence or prenatal and childcare. As you look around for your place and passion, let me know where your path takes you!

Dear Dr. Rutledge,

This article opened up my mind towards a new area which I think I would be interested. I have completed my Masters in Organizational Behavior and Industrial Psychology in India and currently working in Human Resources.
I have always been interested in Consumer Behavior, advertising, buying patterns etc.
Would appreciate it if you let me know how these are interlinked, job opportunities and the colleges in Chicago where i can do this course.

Thanks & Regards,
Vandana
